Garden Programs

NSNP has 6 urban, culturally-themed gardens that preserve green space and energize the Norris Square community that were established by Iris Brown and members of Grupo Motivos. Through these gardens, we have the following programs:

Food and Landscape Program

Through the Food and Landscape Program, NSNP preserves our six culturally themed gardens created by Doña Iris Brown and Doña Tomasita Romero.

Raíces de Cambio

In Spring 2016, NSNP launched Raíces de Cambio (Roots of Change), our youth garden training program. A corps of four youth learn about landscaping techniques, cultivating vegetables, edible plants, cooking, nutrition & health and more while being paid three days a week for their labor. Youth are also be responsible for planning and leading workshops for other high-school youth once a week.

Urban Farm Stand

Every Wednesday from May-October, visit NSNP's farmstand in Norris Square in front of our building at 2141 N. Howard St. to purchase inexpensive fresh organic produce grown in El Batey and Las Parcelas gardens.

Garden Explorations

Through Garden Explorations, NSNP offers workshops and tours at a nominal fee to local schools, summer camps and organizations. Contact Marian Dalke for a tour: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
